Preventingand Responding to Disruptive Students In and Out of the Classroom

The University of Illinois recognizes thatthe number and severity of behavioral incidents on campuses have increasedduring the last ten years. Consequently, instructors need to be prepared tointervene in the classroom to address distressed students and behaviors thatinterfere with teaching and learning. W. Scott Lewis, J.D. is a recognizedexpert on the subject and will be the speaker for the three sessions. Pleaseregister by March 29. More info

TheMaria Pia Gratton International Award

The Maria Pia Gratton International Awardis awarded annually to an oustanding female graduate student from a countryoutside of the United States. This award provides a tuition waiver and astipend of $10,000 to enable the student to have an academic and culturalexperience at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Completinga Thesis Deposit for May Graduation?

Save yourself the hassle of a last-minutedeposit by submitting your electronic thesis or dissertation to the GraduateCollege for review by early April. Students planning to deposit theses ordissertations for May 2011 graduation should note the followingdeadlines.

Because deposit deadlines are firm,students are strongly encouraged to submit the thesis or dissertation to theGraduate College at least one week before the deadline in order to allowsufficient time to make and re-submit all requested corrections.

For May graduation, any correctionsrequested by the Graduate College and all required deposit materials must besubmitted to the Thesis Office no later than 4:45 p.m. on the day of thedeposit deadline. Note that electronic submission of a master’s thesis ordoctoral dissertation is required. More info
