Security and Safety
Built in 1972, Illini Manor conforms to modern building codes. To say that Illini manor is well constructed is an understatement. Built of steel, concrete, and masonry the building qualifies as a "fire resistant" structure. Interior walls utilize steel studs, fiberglass insulation, and fire-code wallboard and plaster. Other safety features include hard wired smoke detectors in every apartment, a fire extinguisher in every suite, and a fire alarm pull station on every floor. A security entry system controls access to the building and allows tenants with telephone service to communicate with visitors or deliveries at the front door. At their discretion, they can admit them to the building by dialing a one digit code on their telephone. All of the apartment doors are constructed of steel with steel frames and jambs. A high-quality deadbolt lock adds further security. Each door is also equipped with a wide-angle peephole which allows the tenant to see who is knocking.
High Speed Internet Wired
For a nominal fee, approximately $20 per month, tenants can now connect to Internet, through our local service provider. Contracts are signed when you sign your lease with!
Show Apartment
Our show apartment is available for inspection 6 days of the week during the renting season, Monday - Saturday. We show apartments Monday - Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Our Saturday hours are from 10:00am to 2:00pm. (Saturday show hours are only mid October through mid May). Our show apartment is apartment #124 and is located right across from the office. Please stop by and allow us to show you through. To assure that someone is available when you arrive, please schedule an appointment. Otherwise, we may be out at a showing for one of our other buildings.
Quiet Study Environment
Illini Manor is a quiet building, designed and managed for the serious student. Very bluntly, we try to avoid renting to students who play their stereos loudly, have noisy friends, or host large or loud parties -- Illini Manor is not the building for them. On the other hand, we welcome those who will contribute to the quiet and mature study environment of Illini Manor.
Utilities
Illini Manor provides all utilities including 70 channel cable which alleviates the tenant from having to pay monthly utility bills and budgeting for seasonal heating and A/C costs. The utilities included with the rent are: natural gas, electricity, hot & cold water, trash removal, sewer fees, and 70 channel cable. The tenants pay: phone and internet. While the laundry room and hot water system use natural gas, there is no gas in the apartments. All fixtures and appliances in the apartments, including heat, are electric.
Telephone
Residents can subscribe for service with AT&T. Each apartment has the necessary jacks. Contact the appropriate company for estimates of installation and monthly service costs. (Note: To use the intercom and remote opening feature or the security entrance system, the tenant will need a working telephone service--cell phones will also work.)
All Units are Fully Furnished Efficiencies
The efficiencies are paired into suites. Every two apartments share a bathroom between them. Two locks, a deadbolt lock and a privacy latch on each of the two bathroom doors ensure both privacy and security and we do match sexes. Furnishings include a platform bed and mattress, built-in non-movable bookcase, a wardrobe, built-in desk with hutch, chair, blinds, and A/C. Storage for folded clothing and other item is accommodated via trays or drawers under the bed.
Laundry
Illini Manor's laundry room is located on the first floor next to the office. It features five washers and five dryers. Our laundry room is very up to date in the fact that it accepts credit cards, debit cards, or laundry cards you can purchase from our office. This means no more searching for quarters! Also featured in our laundry room are vacuums for tenant check out. We only have a limited number so we do ask that they be returned in a timely fashion.
