"Hello,
I hope you can distribute this information to all Chinese students here.
Ok, here is the thing. I posted a room for rent on CSSA BBS. Soon after that, a girl named Julia Lee with a weird email address @live.comcontacted me through email, said she would like to rent my room for the summer. Without negotiating anything on price or my room condition, she agreed to pay me in advance. This morning, she sent me a check of over 3000 bucks through FEDEX overnight mail. She said, I can deposit the check into my account and then return 2000 bucks to her account somewhere in NYC or in London.
I was curious about this, no one will close a deal so anxiously. I went to my banker today, asking him for confirmation. He helped me checked out it’s an invalid check, so it is actually a fraud. My banker will contact U of I report such thing. And, what’s even worse, he told me that I was the third case in this month only. And one undergrad Chinese girl had already fallen into this trap, lost $1800!!!!!!!!
Please tell all Chinese students, don’t accept any strange money!!!!!!! If you got one strange check, don’t deposit it. Ask your banker first!!!!!!!
If there is any way we can find this bitch out, I can’t be happier to work with you!
I’m so pissed off!!!!!!!
Thank you!!!!!"
